Peran Bhabinkamtibmas dalam Penanggulangan Curanmor Melalui Problem-Oriented Policing di Medan Tembung

Abstract

This study analyzes in depth the role of the Community Security and Order Officers (Bhabinkamtibmas) in identifying and analyzing the root causes of motorcycle theft (curanmor) through Problem-Oriented Policing, and the challenges faced in implementing community-based solutions to combat motorcycle theft in Medan Tembung. This study uses a qualitative research method with an empirical approach. The research location is the Medan Tembung Police Station with Bhabinkamtibmas as the resource person. The results of this study indicate that Bhabinkamtibmas in Medan Tembung, Sidorejo Subdistrict, has attempted to address crime by identifying the root causes. From the evaluation results, the main triggers of crime in the area are drug addiction and online gambling. To address this, officers routinely map vulnerable areas and analyze times that are often prone to crime. However, this prevention effort faces many obstacles in the field. These obstacles include the indifference of urban residents, minimal supervision of boarding houses, residents' objections to the cost of installing surveillance cameras (CCTV), and a limited number of police personnel.
